This is the first of 3 races we are doing to qualify for the 2019 UTMB. This race will give us 4 qualifying points. It will be my first race in a few months against a stacked field out west. It will be a good indicator of current fitness levels.
April 29, 2018 will be the 44th running. Let the tradition continue. The Jack Bristol Lake Waramaug Ultra Races are the oldest ultras in Connecticut and many other places. It is the oldest 100K in the United States. The course is rolling loops but primarily flat on paved roads around scenic Lake Waramaug.
The Ultra Race of Champions, also known as UROC, is an unique and must-do event. UROC's mission is to promote the sport by offering a competitive cash purse and by bringing together professional athletes with the weekend warriors, promoting the inclusive nature of ultra running. At UROC, everyone can find their inner Champion.
This point to point ultra takes place along the rocky mountainous Wicklow Way trail just south of Dublin. With over 10k feet of elevation this race will surely put up a challenge. This will be the 2nd of 3 races and will help us to gain another 5 points for the 2019 UTMB (9 of 15 points needed)!
After volunteering in 2016 I knew this was a must run in the near future. It will be great to run a local race with plenty of familiar faces. This race will give us the final 6 points needed (15 of 15) to qualify for the 2019 UTMB race.
